ABSTRAK

The problem concerning in this research is relation between man and forest, that is "
How real form or concrete which is enforceable by institution of custom at public
around forest, to preserve the forest area?".
Methodologies applied in this research is qualitative method to trace does actually
become core culture at Lampung people, as a arranging institution, controls, and gives
direction of their life activity. The application of this qualitative methods refers to
purpose of main an ethnography research, to comprehend local viewpoint, its the
relationship with life, so that will be able to be obtained information about their
opinion? sight about world view. Data obtained then is analyzed based on prime
ethnography, that is started from element which concrete towards things which more
abstraction by utilizing logic thinking from inductive to deductive, causing is obtained
native's point of view from Lampung people. Conclusion that pulled thereby really is
description from: "what told ?", " what which done ?", " what yielded ?", by Lampung
people in they world.
Result this research obtained, indicates that if custom authority of the local custom is
cured, doesn't close possibility that they which will become first bumper to save forest
in its(the area. In general, charisma they actually still be looked into and confessed by
member of local custom public. Fact history of indicating that during custom norm
still applying and institution authority of custom there are still, in arranging
interaction between residents with forest, damage cases of forest can be minimization.
Even, each at resident 'self around forest there are responsibility taste as "guard"
forest continuity, considering that identical forest with their life.
